Theatrical Design (7th-12th)

Are you intersted in theatrical set, costume, light, and sound design? This class is perfect fo you! Learn how a designer thinks, reads a script, and creates the world a play or musical lives in!
This class will meet weekly on Wednesdays for 10 weeks starting Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The final class will be on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.
Our 10-week middle school studios for 7th-12th graders provide advanced theatre techniques, and an in-depth look at the theatrical production process. Some classes at this age range will include a performance showcase of skills learned during class, but students will not be performing a full production.
Frozen (K4-K5)
*Rising K4-K5 students must be fully potty-trained and able to use the bathroom by themselves. SYT staff may not change diapers nor enter the bathroom with a child. *

Our 10-week classes for rising K4-K5 explore creative play, music and art, while learning acting and storytelling techniques. Classes at this age range will include a performance showcase of skills learned during class, but students will not be performing a full production.

Are you interested in acting but not quite sure where to start? We’ve got you covered! You will finish the semester with a strong foundation in stage performance and a newfound sense of self-expression.
This class will meet weekly on Thursdays for 10 weeks starting Thursday, September 10, 2026. The final class will be on Thursday, November 12, 2026.
Our 10-week technique classes for rising 3rd-6th graders introduce theatre techniques for those who are curious, and provide intermediate-level performance opportunities for those who are ready for the next step of the theatre process. Classes at this age range will include a performance showcase of skills learned during class, but students will not be performing a full production.

Audition Series: Musical Theatre (3rd-12th grade)

Our Audition Series workshops are a great way to experience the audition process prior to auditions. At each workshop, students will participate in a mock audition and receive individualized guidance on audition techniques and how to "get that role!"
PREPARING FOR THE WORKSHOP
- Please prepare a 16-32 bar cut of musical theatre song
- Memorization is highly encouraged in order to fully work on your song at the workshop
- An accompanist will be provided. Please bring a copy of your sheet music for the accompanist.
- If you do not have a song, options will be emailed to you after registration. You may also pick up songs at the SYT offices.
AGE REQUIREMENT
- This workshop is open to youth in the 3rd-12th grade.
REGISTRATION
- Pre-registration is required.
- To ensure that students have enough time to prepare their material in advance for the workshop, registration closes at 12pm on the Wednesday before the workshop.

Theatre 101: Stage Combat (7th-12th grade)

Our Theatre 101 workshops cover foundational theatre skills that transfer from the classroom to the stage!

Our Behind-the-Scenes workshops provide intermediate theatre tech training. This workshop will cover the basics of all positions that our crew may cover during an SYT mainstage show.

Audition Series: Monologues (3rd-12th grade)

- For workshops for plays, all students should bring a 30-second to 1-minute monologue to work on at the workshop.
- Please bring the monologue printed so the director can look at the text.
- We recommend that you come with the monologue already memorized.
- If you do not have a monologue, options will be emailed to you after registration.
