The Callback Series: Cold Reads Workshop (3rd-12th grade)

Learning how to navigate callbacks is an important part in how to "get that role!" Cold readings and script work are essential to the callback process, and growing comfortable with both will help students feel more confident in any audition. Cold readings are sections of dialogue or a monologue from a script that the student has never seen before. Directors use them often in callbacks to look for bold choices that will make you stand out! This workshop will provide individualized guidance from SYT staff on tips and tricks on how to make sure that cold readings don't give you cold feet!
PREPARING FOR THE WORKSHOP
- Because cold readings are seen for the first time in auditions, there is nothing the students need to prepare in advance.
- The only thing to bring is a water bottle, a snack, and a good attitude!
AGE REQUIREMENT
- This workshop is open to youth in the 3rd-12th grade.
COST
- The workshops is $40.
REGISTRATION
- Pre-registration is required.
- Registration will close the Wednesday before the workshop.

The Rainbow Fish Audition Workshop
with Ray Jones
Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 9:00am-12:00pm.
Audition workshops are a great way to experience the audition process prior to auditions. At each workshop, students will participate in a mock audition and receive individualized guidance from SYT staff on audition techniques and how to "get that role!"
PREPARING FOR THE WORKSHOP
- For workshops for plays, all students should bring a 30-second to 1-minute monologue to work on at the workshop. Please bring the monologue printed so the director can look at the text.
- We recommend that you come with the monologue already memorized, or mostly memorized.
- If you do not have a monologue/song, options will be emailed to you after registration. You may also pick up monologues at the SYT offices.
AGE REQUIREMENT
- Audition workshops are open to youth in the 3rd-12th grade.
COST
- Workshops are $35.00 for plays and $40.00 for musicals.
REGISTRATION
- Pre-registration is required.
- To ensure that students have enough time to prepare their material in advance for the workshop, registration closes at 12pm on the Wednesday before each workshop.
