Payment initiated by May 3: Once accepted into the camp, if payment has not been received by Friday, May 3, 2024, or at least partial payment through a payment plan, you will lose your spot in the camp. If you need a payment extension, please contact us directly.

June 3-7, 2023 - Evening rehearsals 5:30-8:30pm

June 10-14, 2023 - Evening rehearsals, 5:30-8:30pm

June 17-21, 2023 - Camp week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

Performances: Friday, June 21 at 6pm

Saturday, June 22 at 2pm & 6pm

For students with previous experience on stage, this camp will dive into advanced musical theatre techniques, culminating in a performance of the musical song cycle Songs For A New World. Pre-screen application and virtual audition required (see link above). If you qualify, you will be emailed instructions to enroll within two weeks of submitting your application.

Performances: There will be 3 public performances for this camp:

  • Fri, June 23 at 6pm
  • Sat June 24 at 2pm & 6pm
  • The performances will be ticketed and open to the public.
  • Tickets will be on sale in advance through spartanburgyouththeatre.com. On sale date is TBD.
  • Each actor will receive 2 free tickets for their families to use
  • Tickets will be $10, general admission

Content Advisory: This camp is designed for students to be exposed to more mature content. While they will not be asked to do anything inappropriate (no language, graphic scenes, etc), the subject matter will be more mature than what you're used to seeing at SYT.

Auditions: All actors interested in this production must submit an application and virtual audition (upload link above). Virtual auditions will be accepted until 11:59pm on Friday, April 5, 2024. The cast will be announced no later than April 19, 2024.

Camp Fee: In order to participate, actors cast in this production must pay the camp registration fee ($300). A link to pay for the camp will be emailed to actors who are cast.

Registration deadline: Registration for this camp will close earlier than other camps, on Friday, May 3 at 12pm.

Rehearsals:

  • Actors will rehearse BEFORE the camp week. Rehearsals will be in the evening 4-5 nights per week during the weeks of June 3-7 and June 10-14, 5:30-8:30pm
  • Conflicts will be allowed, however if actors cannot attend the majority of the nights during those weeks, it may affect their ability to participate in the camp.
  • A rehearsal schedule will be sent to students once registration has closed, the week of May 6-10. Please list conflicts on the application. We understand conflicts may arise after filling out the application. If accepted into the camp, please communicate any additional conflicts that may come up immediately.

Rising K4-K5 students must be fully potty-trained and able to use the bathroom by themselves. SYT staff may not change diapers nor enter the bathroom with a child.

Jump, jive, and jam with us as we explore all the jubilant ways we can express ourselves! 

Our one-week camps for rising K4-K5 explore creative play, music and art, while learning acting and storytelling techniques. Classes at this age are intended to help ignite the imagination and encourage group play. There will not be a play or performance in classes for this age range, but rather a sharing of activities.

Payment plan available: $30 deposit plus 2 payments of $37.50, paid every four weeks.

Production Camp: Wizard of Oz: The Deleted Scene (Rising 3rd-6th)

 Find out what happens if Dorothy took a shortcut instead of the yellow brick road! This performance camp provides an opportunity to explore how we put a show together from the script to the stage in one week!  

Our one-week camps for rising 3rd-6th graders introduce theatre techniques for those who are curious, and provide intermediate-level performance camps for those who are ready for the next step of the theatre process. Production camps at this age range will include a shortened performance of a full length play.

Payment plan available: $50 deposit plus 2 payments of $112.50, paid every four weeks.

Devised Drama: A Spartanburg Stories Experience (Rising 5th-12th)

Devised Theatre is a method of theatre creation in which the performing ensemble creates the script through collaboration. It allows for experiementation and exploration, as well as a chance to develop performing, writing, and teamwork skills. 

This week long camp will explore the idea of what home means to you. Stitching together everyone's created stories, the ensmeble will create a show that will be performed on the last day of camp.

Payment plan available: $50 deposit plus 2 payments of $41.66, paid every four weeks. Final payment of $41.68.

Behind the Scenes: Directing (Rising 7th-12th)

Have you ever wanted to learn what goes into directing a scene, a play, or a musical? Take a look behind the scenes and try your hand at directing! 

Our Behind the Scenes one-week camps for rising 7th-12th graders provide intermediate theatre teach, design, and directing training that we don't typically cover in classes. This particular camp will provide the students with a chance to direct their classmates in scenes and end with a showcase of their work. 

Payment plan available: $50 deposit plus 4 payments of $31.25, paid every four weeks.
